Another reason to march. We marched on Saturday with our son and daughter in law and our 4 year old granddaughter. Today, our granddaughter, not knowing who Donald Trump is, wanted to know what "Hey, Hey, Ho, Ho. Donald Trump has got to go!" means. So I explained that a president is like the head of a family. Donald Trump is the head of our American family but many, many people believe he's not doing a good job taking care of our America's family so we want him to leave and we want to get a better leader. This made sense to her.

Next she wanted to know some of our other presidents from the beginning. I started with George Washington. When I got to John Quincy Adams, she stopped me and wanted to know why there were only boy presidents.

Amazing lesson learned.

We need to change that! It's clear to me that we should have elected Kamala, then your granddaughter would have an excellent role model. We've got to do better next time.

I still am grieving VP Harris's loss. I hope someday your granddaughter will be able to say "Madame President..."

Great lessons. Kids are so smart. How did you answer her last question?

I told her about Hillary and Kamala vs DJT. And she can run in 31 years. Actually the country would be better off if she was president now.

Just tell me what's next in North Texas and I'm there. I have sisters who voted for that bastard who are too scared to admit they made a mistake who are cheering me on. I tell them I fight for them. I tell my MAGA sister I fight for her. Someday she will appreciate it, though she will never say.

Could they be encouraged to quietly call or write their representatives to tell them to stop Trump? None of their friends need to know or only their trusted friends equally regretting their decision

That's so lame though. We're losing our free democratic republic and they don't want to participate because they'd have to admit they were tricked?

Here in the Bay area of California we have Tesla Takedowns every Saturday. Unless there is a larger protest for democracy happening. But yeah, the next nationwide is the 50501 movement is April 19th.

If you're ready to protest, you are ready to join a community group and Indivisible.org will help you find your local group.

Best of luck. Bring your sign and start meeting people out there protesting with you.

I'm so damned grateful:

-To a nation of organizers

-To everybody who has been protesting for years (or decades)

-To everybody who came out for the first time

-To everybody asking "what's next?" and looking not just to others, but their own community, for the answer.

As to what’s next, since network news refuse to cover 50501 marches, HOW ABOUT HOLDING THE MAY 1st MARCHES IN FRONT OF OUR LOCAL NETWORK STATIONS?

Any idea how many turned out in Phoenix AZ? I cannot find any estimates. I was there, seemed like thousands but local media sucks at reporting our rallies.

I think we should have the next round of marches in front of our local network TV stations. See if they can ignore us then.

This is what hope looked like in Grand Rapids, Michigan during the Hands Off Our Democracy Day on April 5, 2025.

My children didn't want me to attend

- the memory of the riot that ensued after George Floyd was murdered still fresh in their minds

- Numerous articles about how to prepare for a protest, know your constitutional rights, write your emergency contacts on your arm, be unidentifiable in dark clothes, masks and hats.

- Have an escape plan, etc.

And their were the writers reminding us of past civil rights movements when people bravely, peacefully protested knowing they could be physically beaten or even die standing up for what they knew was right.

I told my family that this was a planned peaceful protest. That you can be brave even when you are scared. That I didn't need an escape plan or to write phone numbers on my arm. I wasn't planning to break windows or blow up cars. I was insistent that we needed to be on the right side of this movement! And what exactly did we encounter at this protest in downtown Grand Rapids?

Furious people full of hate for the new Führer tRump and his Republican Musk Rat regime - hell yes! But we were all smiling, greeting each other, shaking hands, lots of hugs, laughing at the trump and each other's creative posters.

There were families, neighbors, children playing, determined seniors, defiant veterans and so many different skin colors! Now my children are planning for next time!

It is estimated that five million people showed up at over a thousand worldwide anti-trump events and I haven't come across any news of violence.

I know it's not want he planned for - but I give thanks to the trump, for he has united us like we have never been before.

Hope to see you all at the next planned peaceful protest April 19, 2025 at noon all Fifty State Capitol (and many local events of course) with One Common Goal to extinguish El Führer DonOld tRump, Un-United States Dick Traitor and his entire Republican regime of Musk Rats. Their droppings spread hate everywhere they go.

Every day more safeguards are dismantled. I am absolutely horrified that Trump who fucking represents our country has the gall to call Gaza “a fine piece of real estate” publicly and is allowed to deport those who have stake in the survival of the Palestinian people. Students are arrested and removed from universities because they oppose genocide. So if the regular Joe public does it is he or we next? Somehow although I took part in the protest I am left with the undeniable feeling that we are doing nothing.

It’s not easy to go to a protest in Florida! I was afraid I would be one of a dozen who showed up, but there were 1000, peacefully protesting. One trumper with big trump flags kept trolling, but we were cool. I think everyone should give them the peace sign and smile, because, um…there were 1000 of us!

We live in NY but are traveling and were in VA for Hands Off protest. Being a purple state, I didn't know what to expect but the turn out was awesome- 1,400 pissed off and peaceful citizens, in a high veteran population, including my pop who is retired Navy. It gave me chills!

The protests were both peaceful and well organized. Even our small town had one! But we should be screaming that major news services were not covering to the same extent as the Tea Party protests were.

Why?

What can we do about that? May I suggest organizing a huge protest (perhaps a totally silent one) that would surround Congress for hours? With signs of course!

Although I think it’s great to shame our media, I’m more interested in promoting independent media on all non-meta platforms whenever possible. The very concept of cable channel news is problematic when they can be ruled by the oligarchy. Independent media is the best assurance of the truth succeeding in the future!
