The current president of the United States does not know what a stroller is. Yes, you read that right.
Just this week, President Trump was responding to reporters on rising costs due to his own tariffs, stating, “All costs are down. Everything is down other than the thing you carry the babies around in."
And strollers aren’t the only items with increasing price tags. Trump is telling kids and families it’s time to cut down on toys, dolls, and even pencils.
From gutting funding for schools to hiking the prices for diapers and formula, the second Trump administration has been a disaster for working families and a gift for billionaires and corporations.
On NBC’s "Meet the Press", Trump reiterated that kids didn’t need “30 dolls,” adding that a person doesn’t “need to have 250 pencils, they can have five.”
Trump is undeniably admitting that tariffs are impacting the price of common goods paid for by the vast majority of working-class Americans. He does not care.
As long as Trump keeps scamming his own supporters with meme coins and passing tax cuts for billionaires, he’s a happy camper. But as we all know, it’ll be us, the American people and families, who have to foot the bill and face the consequences of Trump’s painful economic policies.
We’re now over 100 days in of witnessing him continually breaking his campaign promise to lower costs—betraying even his most loyal supporters.
According to economists, tariffs could result in increased costs for the average American family, ranging from nearly $4,000 to almost $8,000 per household. Diapers, baby formula, toys, food … nearly every item on a family’s weekly grocery list will climb higher and higher in price thanks to Trump.
And let’s not forget what the Trump administration has already done to cut funding for schools and educators.
Trump’s executive order dismantling the Department of Education could result in larger class sizes, less funding for students with disabilities and mental health programs, cuts to tutoring programs, and more.
President Trump isn’t only anti-worker, he’s anti-family and anti-kids. Unless, of course, it’s his own family—then, the sky is the limit.
Let’s face it: Trump, Republicans in Congress, and Elon Musk haven’t spent a second worrying about having enough toys for their families, or whether or not they can afford baby formula for the week.
But millions of people and families in this country are struggling to make ends meet and keep food on the table. Their struggles will only continue to skyrocket and reverberate as Trump’s tariff policy eats away at their savings and their security.
Trump and the Republican Party are already running scared from their constituents. Now is the time to keep the pressure up and remind our elected officials they represent us, not Trump, Musk, or corrupt billionaires.

I’ve been calling my MAGA Congressman and senators about tariffs several times a week. Asking them to take back their power to enact tariffs from the President. They won’t even explain why they support the tariffs. They are completely silent. I’ve had GOP representatives for years and never experienced this complete lack of response before.
Look, this is also extraordinarily sexist in nature...and not to say only girls want dolls and boys want cars. I cannot imagine how people would be responding if we said boys don't need more than 1 or 2 matchbox race cars.... How else will they have great races? And how will we have families if there are only 2 doll family members? And send them to their workplace where they work with their teams at the fisher price zoo or safari, or go to the Lincoln Logs garage and car repair, or the hospital to care for the people who need help?
There is something nearly amusing that a billionaire with no imagination telling families how their children should be creative.
