Turning Anger Into Action After an Awful SCOTUS Term
The MAGA justices were put on the court to protect Trump’s agenda, not the people.
The Supreme Court’s term just ended, and one thing is clear: The MAGA justices were put on the court to protect Trump’s agenda, not the people.
The MAGA court issued rulings giving Trump unlimited power to tear our communities apart and break the law—all without consequence.
This term, we’ve seen a number of devastating decisions, including these:
Trump v. CASA: The Supreme Court’s 6-3 decision in the birthright citizenship case allows Trump to rule unconstitutionally while limiting lower court's’ power to check his administration’s attacks on our rights. Trump is seeking outsized power to tell us who gets to be an American. This is a brazen attempt to upend legal citizenship in this country. Now Trump’s executive order ending our constitutionally guaranteed right to birthright citizenship could go into effect within 30 days.
U.S. v. Skrmetti: The court ruled that Tennessee can move forward with their ban on gender-affirming care for transgender youth.
Medina v. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic: The court ruled that patients can’t sue their states for refusing Medicaid coverage at Planned Parenthood health centers, opening the door for states to strip Medicaid coverage from Planned Parenthood centers across the country—resulting in patients not being able to get reproductive or sexual health care, including birth control, STI testing, cancer screenings, and more.
Mahmoud v. Taylor: The court ruled on the side of parents who sought the right, based on their religion, to opt their children out of school curricula with LGBTQ+ storylines.
Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans packed the court with extremist judges to rule in their favor. Time and time again,Trump-backed judges give him more power.
They’ve ruled that he has presidential immunity. That Trump is allowed on the ballot even if he incited an insurrection. They worked alongside him and anti-abortion extremists to overturn Roe v. Wade and take away our access and rights to an abortion.
We know the Supreme Court won’t save us, but we can fight back.

I hope this latest post signifies greater collaboration between at least three of the national opposition groups -- at least they are sharing a fundraising promo ;-)
I've been petitioning national and local groups, and key stakeholders to consider forming a top-level council with representatives from all the disparate opposition groups for many months now -- no response to date, although I've seen faint echoes of this concept in communications from the groups like the current fundraiser promo -- I've also read confirmation of the need for such a council from journalists and other sources.
A top-level council would formulate strategic goals and coordinate protests, boycotts, work actions, and ultimately, civil disobedience actions. All but protests require a level of strategic planning and coordination than we currently have.
Yeah, that top-down council you suggest used to be the DNC.
