The government punishing people based on their apparent political views should be abhorrent to all Americans, whether we agree with those views or not. Abducting someone using masked unidentified agents is wrong in and of itself. Jailing people without charges and a hearing is wrong. Abducting and jailing people based on the government's opinion that it doesn't like their ideas is exactly the arbitrary and authoritarian practises of Stalin, Hitler, and for that matter King George III, that this country has always opposed. We can object now, or we can wait until we are the ones behind bars...
I will add here as a Jew born shortly after WWII, in which my father fought in the US Army Air Force and hundreds of our relatives in Eastern Europe were murdered, I feel strongly that Nazi-imititation tactics of demonizing particular groups are bad in themselves and dangerous to us all. As a supporter of democracy here and in Israel, I am angry that fake claims of "opposing anti-semitism" are being used as a cover story to attack students and immigrants.
The way to oppose antisemitism is to guarantee that everyone, everyone, is free to express their views and practice their religion without harassment. There is work to be done in that cause. Jailing students and immigrants because they disagree with the government (and perhaps with me, I don't know and it's not relevant) makes all our lives worse.
