The Biggest Attack On Health Care In U.S. History
Before these lawmakers cast their votes, we need to flood their offices with public pressure
The House committee that oversees health care spending just announced that next week they will be voting on a Republican budget plan that would slash hundreds of billions from Medicaid and other essential programs—all to fund more tax breaks for billionaires like Trump and Musk.
If it passes, these cuts, affecting millions of Americans, could reach the full House floor for a vote as early as the following week.
This would be the biggest attack on health care in U.S. history. We’re talking about ripping care away from:
Half of all kids in this country
Nearly half of all births in the country
Over 60% of nursing home residents
Millions of people with disabilities
Working adults with no job-based insurance
Families hanging on by a thread
These aren’t numbers on a spreadsheet. These are our neighbors, our elders, our kids—and the GOP is choosing billionaire donors over their lives.
But here’s the thing: the majority of Americans—including most Republican voters—oppose these cuts. And the GOP knows it.
They’re vulnerable. For weeks, GOP town halls have been flooded with angry constituents. Massive protests are propping up across the country. Voters are waking up to the fact that Republicans in Congress are looting this country in broad daylight.
If we turn up the pressure now, we can force some of them to break ranks and vote no.
Before these lawmakers cast their votes, we need to flood their offices with public pressure. Join a virtual phone bank on Monday, May 12th at 2:00 PM ET. You’ll be calling voters in key Republican districts to help them tell their representatives: vote NO on these devastating cuts.
We’ve seen it before: when enough people speak out, Republicans cave. Let’s make sure they hear from their constituents loud and clear.
